    Smallholder farmers in Kenya grow most of the country's food, vegetables and fruit. These farmers face formidable challenges in increasing production, preserving natural resources and addressing the impact of climate change in food production systems. Meeting these challenges is vital to sustained livelihoods and reduction of poverty, especially in the fragile dryland and semi-arid areas, where the impact of climate change is expected to be severe in Eastern Africa and Kenya.

    The Workshop on Governance of Tenure for Responsible Capture Fisheries was convened by the FAO Fisheries and Aquaculture Department in collaboration with the Land Tenure Unit of the Natural Resources and Environment Department to generate inputs and guidance on the contents and process of developing fisheries sector specific implementation guidelines on the Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land, Fisheries and Forests in the Context of National Food Security.

    This guide describes two of the main approaches to greenhouse gas mitigation planning in developing countries: Low-Emission Development Strategies (LEDS) and Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs). It explains the possible relationships between them and their status within the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). National mitigation planning processes have policy, technical and institutional dimensions that need to be addressed in an integrated and iterative manner. For each of these dimensions four key elements are outlined.

    Desde 1996, la FAO y el Gobierno de Italia han colaborado en un ambicioso proyecto que se realiza a lo largo de la cuenca del r?o m?s largo del mundo. ?Productos informativos sobre los recursos h?dricos de la cuenca del Nilo? fue el nombre con el que se design? la suma global de tres proyectos consecutivos llevados a cabo en diez pa?ses de la cuenca del Nilo. Tras su conclusión oficial, en octubre de 2011, el proyecto fue entregado a la Iniciativa de la Cuenca del Nilo, una organización intergubernamental creada en 1999 que tiene su sede en Entebbe (Uganda).
