Ethiopia organizes National Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue (MSD) on large scale agricultural investment | Land Portal

The Ethiopian Federal Democratic Republic of Ministry of Agriculture in collaboration with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH implemented Responsible Governance of Investment in Land (RGIL) project has organized the third Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue (MSD) on Responsible Governance of Investment in Land (RGIL) at the national level from 21 to 22 March 2023 here in Addis Ababa. The National MSD aims at enhancing general awareness of responsible agricultural investment in Ethiopia, discusses the key challenges in the large-scale agricultural investment facing Ethiopia and proposes potential policy and legal solutions to the identified bottlenecks in the sector.

The status of Ethiopia's agricultural investment policy, key international frameworks, possibilities and problems for investors in agricultural investment, and other topics have beendiscussed at the national multi-stakeholder dialogue. The forum also features the sharing of practical experiences from investors and local communities regarding practices of large-scale agricultural investment in Ethiopia.

The National Multi Stakeholders Dialogue discussed among others the status of Responsible Governance of Investment in Land in Ethiopia, key international frameworks, opportunities and challenges for investors in agricultural investment as well as agricultural investment policy in Ethiopia. The forum also shared practical experiences of actors and players of agricultural investment in land in Ethiopia.

 

About the Responsible Governance of Investment in Land (RGIL) Project

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) is implementing Responsible Governance of Investment in Land (RGIL) project in cooperation with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ ) GmbH. Through the support of the project, the capacities of key stakeholders including governmental staffs, investors as well as civil society and community representatives will be strengthened. The project is co-financed by the European Union (EU) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
