Knowledge management and learning are at the heart of the LAND-at-scale program. RVO, LANDac and the International Land Coalition (ILC) will collaborate to implement the knowledge management (KM) component of the program.

Through LAND-at-scale's country-projects, the aim is to achieve just, inclusive and sustainable land governance at scale and in a sustainable way. With an integrated KM-strategy, LAND-at-scale aims to achieve maximum impact of each project, as well as contribute to gaining a deeper understanding of the conditions required to create structural change.

Under the Evaluation, Research and Communications (ERC) project, USAID launched the Mobile Applications to Secure Tenure (MAST) Pilot in Burkina Faso. MAST uses a simple android app and a semi-crowdsourced methodology to facilitate the mapping and documentation of land in a more efficient, transparent, and affordable manner. USAID has already successfully piloted MAST in Tanzania, where it is now being scaled across an entire district.

Under the Evaluation, Research and Communication (ERC) project, USAID is conducting a pilot project to support the initial start-up phase of a National Land Observatory (NLO) in Burkina Faso. The goal of the NLO is to strengthen Burkina Faso’s land governance and improve transparency in land transactions to promote greater consistency with the Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land, Fisheries and Forests (VGs).

USAID’s Resilience and Economic Growth in the Sahel – Enhanced Resilience (REGIS-ER) program works to increase the resilience of chronically vulnerable people, households, communities and systems in targeted agro-pastoral and marginal agriculture livelihood zones in Niger and Burkina Faso. This will be achieved through three interwoven objectives: increased and sustainable well-being, strengthened institutions and governance, and improved nutrition and health. Each of these objectives constitutes a core component of the REGIS-ER program.

Framework support to RRI, a global coalition of international, regional and community organizations dedicated to raising global awareness on forest policy and tenure reforms to achieve goals of poverty alleviation, biodiversity and forest-based economic growth. The overall objective of the project is to reduce poverty, enhance well-being and strengthen democratic governance and development in forest areas of developing countries.

The goal of the programme was to contribute to rural poverty reduction efforts through activities that intended to develop target village groups and their institutions' capacity to better manage the land; to reverse the process of degradation of cropland and non-cropland through watershed management and irrigation construction; to increase the income of rural poor who constitute the target group by improving agricultural production and productivity; and to improve the living conditions of the target groups by increasing their access to basic social services and markets.

Support local organizations in rural areas in developing policies and practices for responsible governance of land acquisitions and investments, while capitalizing on field data trends, experiences and lessons learned regarding land management and acquisition.

LANDac is a partnership between Dutch organizations active in the field of land governance with the aim to optimize the link between land governance, sustainable development and poverty alleviation by generating, analyzing, synthesizing and disseminating knowledge. Some of its activities include PhD programmes, short-term research in collaboration with Southern partners, an annual Summer School on Land Governance, organization of meetings and lectures and providing a platform for a wider range of stakeholders involved in and interested in land governance in the Netherlands.
