Depuis son accès à l’Indépendance, la république d’Haïti semble profondément marquée par les racines de son histoire, prise dans les contradictions de ses références aux valeurs « humanistes » de la Révolution française et à l’attachement à une société profondément, pour ne pas dire essentiellement rurale, depuis l’origine, du fait des exigences du système colonial.
In early 2018, Action Aid Haiti (AAH) approached the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA), to collaborate in a project that in the context of climate change, would promote the production of environmentally sustainable crops, and reduce the vulnerability of persons particularly women in rural communities.
Land degradation exacerbates the unique vulnerabilities of Small Island Developing States (SIDS) to environmental challenges, such as climate change, flash floods, soil erosion, lagoon siltation, coastal erosion and sea level rise, undermining their economic potential.

Haiti enjoys a dynamic partnership with FAO, which has been present in the country since 1978. FAO interventions have focused on food security and nutrition through support to the formulation of agricultural policies and the implementation of development programmes.
Long before opening a country office in Santo Domingo in 1979, FAO provided technical and financial assistance to the Dominican Republic to boost development of its agriculture, fisheries and forestry sectors.
This policy paper focuses on the environmental challenges of sustainable development issues with particular attention to natural resource management, environment and climate change in the food and agriculture sector (including crops, livestock, fisheries and forestry).
This new guide describes the application of spatial technology to improve disaster risk management (DRM) within the aquaculture sector. DRM requires interrelated actions and activities to ensure early warning, prevention, preparedness, response and recovery for a wide range of natural, technological and complex disasters that can impact aquaculture operations and livelihoods.
