Afghanistan

Land-locked Afghanistan is strategically located at the crux of Central, South and West Asia, bordered by Iran, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and China. It is a country of geographical extremes, from mountains in the centre to the northeast, to arid desert in the south and southwest. As a result, temperatures vary from -20oC to over +40oC. The country area is 652,860 km2 (roughly the same size as France).
