Land Portal Program
Resettlement Policy Framework
The Government of Mozambique, supported by the World Bank, is preparing the Sustainable Rural Economy Program (SREP), a ten-year initiative promoting integrated rural development through multiple small sub-projects across sectors such as agriculture, fishing, and natural resource conservation. The project will be led by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in coordination with the Ministry of Sea, Inland Waters and Fisheries and the Ministry of Land and Environment. The National Fund for Sustainable Development will be the leading implementing entity, with additional agencies also responsible for implementation. The Resettlement Policy Framework (RPF) of the SREP outlines the principles, organizational arrangements, and design criteria for resettlement and compensation, applicable to all project activities. The project aims to increase productivity and market access for targeted beneficiaries and to improve natural resource management practices in selected areas. The project has four components: increased productivity and market access, enhancing natural resources management, institutional strengthening, and project management. The first component aims to provide advice and financial support to productive systems based on value chains and improve rural infrastructure. The second component focuses on ensuring harmony between production and conservation of natural resources. The project emphasizes land governance through improved land use and natural resource management, implementation of a new Forest Information System, and enhanced surveillance of forests and conservation areas.
