The present Agreement is the first combined land, resources and self-government Agreement in the Northwest Territories. Canada, the Government of the Northwest Territories(GNWT) and the Tlicho are Parties to the Agreement.
Section 2 of the above-mentioned Act establishes a body corporate called the “Maritime Forestry Complex Corporation” consisting of those persons who make up the board of directors.
This Act concerns the management of Crown lands, i.e. all or any part of the lands vested in the Crown that are under the administration and control of the Minister and includes any water upon or under the surface of such lands and of forest and forest resources.
The purpose of the present Act is to ensure the respect of natural resources.
This Act has 43 sections, and is divided as follows: Interpretation (sects. 1-3); Dedication and Purpose of Provincial Parks (sects. 4 and 5); Designation and Management of Provincial Parks (sects. 6-11); Park Lands Administration (sects. 12-22); Enforcement (sects.
The present Act lays down provisions relating to forest and range practices. Section 136 establishes that the Forest Practices Board is continued.
