The purpose of the regulation of urban areas is to achieve rational use of the built environment and infrastructure; regulate local constructions; develop and protect natural and artificial environment; harmonize national, regional, local and private interests.
Article 349 of the Penal Code addresses the illegal acquisition of property and use rights of agricultural and silvicultural land. Persons eluding legal restrictions or prohibitions may be punished with one to five years of imprisonment.
This Act is composed of 20 chapters and it is divided into 148 articles.

This Act lays down rules regarding the acquisition of property rights of agricultural and forestry lands, the institution of usufruct right on such lands, the use of land, the control on restrictions relative to the acquisition of land, and rules regarding local land commissions.
This Decree applies to freshwater stocks which are already serving or will be used in the future for drinking water distribution and for mineral and medical water uses, and to establishments supplying, treating, storing and distributing such waters to at least an average of 50 persons.
The scope of application of this Decree includes the granting of state subsidy for nature conservation purposes and the compensation for the restriction or prohibition of farming and in case the production structure must be significantly changed.
This Decree establishes that the competent territorial and local authority for land management is the countrywide network system of land offices (county and ditrict offices)and the central authority is the Land Survey and Remote Sensing Institute (FÖMI).
