In this report the results of an independent assessment of the needs for capacity building for the development of community forestry in Indonesia, are presented. Needs were assessed at the level of the institutional context of community forestry development, key organizations and individuals.

This document highlights the key achievements and challenges of the "Grassroots Capacity Building for REDD+" project in the Asia-Pacific region from August 2010 to July 2011. 

RECOFTC conducted a review of the linkages between community forestry and poverty, with an emphasis on Asia. The analysis shows that clear empirical evidence exists, demonstrating that community forestry has provided tangible benefits to poor people.

This policy brief discusses ways for governments to support community forestry based on the understanding that it can provide numerous economic, environmental and social benefits.
