The FAO Legal Office provides in-house counsel in accordance with the Basic Texts of the Organization, gives legal advisory services to FAO members, assists in the formulation of treaties on food and agriculture, for which the Director-General acts as Depositary, publishes legal studies and maintains a database (FAOLEX) of national legislation and international agreements concerning food and agriculture (including fisheries, forestry and water).

After the Revolution, in 1979, the Government authorized farmers to temporarily farm in some abandoned lands. The Regulation, which consists of 31 articles, aims to transfer the ownership of these lands to the farmers in return of monthly installment of the land’s actual value. Accordingly, the Regulation provides details of the process to grant ownership. The eligible farmers to receive ownership, as well as the actual price of each land, should be determined by a specified committee.

La presente Ley Foral, que consta de 7 títulos, 130 artículos, 4 disposiciones adicionales, 3 transitorias, 1 derogatoria y 2 finales, regula la actuación de la Comunidad Foral de Navarra en la reforma de las infraestructuras agrícolas, que se llevará a cabo principalmente a través de la concentración parcelaria; no obstante se establecen otros procedimientos de reordenación de parcelas para supuestos concretos en los que, por las características de los terrenos afectados, no sea posible la concentración parcelaria (art. 1º).

This Legislative Decree, composed of six Chapters divided into 38 articles, provides for the institution of a National Land Register regulating land tenure. Special attention is paid to the use of terms and meanings within the Register.

Règlement sur la gestion du fonds cantonal pour les investigations préalables des sites présumés pollués.
Le présent règlement met en exécution la loi d’application de la législation fédérale sur la protection de l'environnement du 21 juin 1990. Notamment, le règlement a pour but de fixer les modalités de gestion du fonds cantonal destiné à financer le coût des investigations préalables concernant des sites qui se révèlent non pollués, ainsi que le coût de l'élimination des déchets déposés de façon illicite et dont le financement est avancé par l'Etat.
Law on Coastal Zone and Inland.
The purpose of this Act, which consists of 14 Articles, is to determine the boundary of the coastal zone and inland as well as to regulate provisions regarding their ownership and use. According to the Act, any construction in the determined limit of the coastal zone and inland is prohibited unless for necessary public facilities. Any trespassing to these limits or any destruction of their current situation may lead to persecution by authorities.
