The BJB – Brazilian Journal of Biology® is a scientific journal devoted to publishing original articles in all fields of the Biological Sciences, i.e., General Biology, Cell Biology, Evolution, Biological Oceanography, Taxonomy, Geographic Distribution, Limnology, Aquatic Biology, Botany, Zoology, Genetics, and Ecology. Priority is given to papers presenting results of researches in the Neotropical region and Global Biodiversity and the Environment. Material published includes research papers, review papers (upon approval of the Editorial Board), notes, book reviews, and comments.

The Journal has a 80 years old tradition and it is indexed in various international indices such as Aqualine Abstracts (Cambridge Scientific Abstracts), Entomological Abstracts; Helmintological Abstracts; Review of Medical and Veterinary Entomology; Review of Agricultural; Sumários de Revistas Brasileiras; Selective Indexation at the ASFA database; All-Russian Institute of Scientific and Technical Information – Abstracts Journal Index Medicus; ProQuest Environmental Science Collection; SCOPUS; SCImago Journal Rank (SJR); MEDLINE/PubMed; LILACS; SCIELO; QUALIS CAPES; DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals); LATINDEX – Sistema Regional de Información en Línea para Revistas Cientificas de América Latina, el Caribe, España y Portugal (México).

The magazine publishes only articles in English, it is opened for all the researchers, brazilian or not. The articles written by researchers by non-native language speakers must be reviewed by specialists of native language, must also include it’s identification.

The original paper must be sent to the Publishing Commission and be in agree with all the instructions for preparation of manuscripts.

Those submitted and authored by more than one author should present the agreement of the co-authors.
