By virtue of the entry into force at the national level of the Code on the Environment, this Regional Act defines the competences of local authorities (the Region, the Provinces and the Communes) in different matters relevant to environmental protection, namely: land rehabilitation (art. 1), waste management (art.2), issue of authorizations for waste water discharges (art.

The present Regional Act lays down the framework relative to the expropriation for public purposes of land. Article 4 provides for the setting up of a Commission which shall be responsible for the application of the expropriation procedure. Detailed provisions concerning the compensation to be paid to owners are laid down.

Land reclamation activities represent a permanent instrument intended for the development, the protection and the improvement of agricultural production as well as for soil conservation and the protection of the environment and its natural resources (art. 1).

In accordance with articles 44 and 129 of the Constitution, this Act pursues the development of mountain areas by encouraging the participation of local communities (by creating Mountain Communities) in the drafting and implementation of development programmes and territorial plans relevant to their respective mountain districts.

The present Decree lays down the official methods to be applied in order to identify and analyse the mineralogical characteristics of soil.

This Regional Act lays down the legislative framework concerning the protection of soil, water resources and coastal territories in Toscana. The Act establishes principles for the adoption of programmes, plans and projects to undertake interventions that have an impact on such resources. A Commission for Soil Protection is established (art. 4).

This Regional Act sets forth the legislative framework for the protection and preservation of soil in the Abruzzo Region, in accordance with the principles that govern sustainable development and sustainable use of natural resources. In particular the Act establishes restrictions concerning the explotation of agricultural lands and related surfaces (art. 3).

This Decree sets out provisions concerning certain special interventions in agricultural areas, including land reclamation as well as certain installations in apiaries.

The present Regional Act lays down the legislative framework in matter of town and country planning, taking into particular consideration, inter alia, the need to preserve the environment and regional landscape, including agricultural lands. The regional territory shall be managed at the municipal, provincial and regional levels. Plans shall be coordinated as provided in article 4.

In implementation of Act No. 257 of 1992, the present Regional Act lays down provisions intended to ensure the protection of public health against pollution caused by asbestos. The Act establishes preventive measures to be applied when decontamination interventions are carried out. Article 3 regards the Regional Plan on Asbestos to be adopted by the Lombardia Region.
