Parliamentary Monitoring Group

Resource information

"The Parliamentary Monitoring Group (PMG) is an information service that was established in 1995. This service was created as a partnership between Black Sash, the Human Rights Committee, and Idasa. The primary aim of the PMG is to provide a form of Hansard for the proceedings of over fifty South African Parliamentary Committees. This service is specifically for these three advocacy organisations. The relevance of this resource to land governance is evident in its monitoring of parliamentary discussions and decisions, which often include topics related to land tenure and land rights. The document 'Country Assessment: Towards a National Engagement Strategy (NES) for South Africa April 2018' by Kingwill, R. (2018) is a notable example of the resources provided by the PMG."
