These Regulations provide for payment of aid to farmers who undertake for five years to permit members of the public to have access to an area of set-aside land. They implement in part Council Directive (EC) No. 2078/92 on agricultural production methods compatible with the requirements for protection of the environment and maintenance of the countryside. Requirements in relation to the access area are set out in regulation 4. The land shall be managed in accordance with management requirements as set out in the Schedule. Such requirements include making access available to the public, the exclusion of bulls over ten months of age and those of recognised dairy breed, the marking of ways and signposting, the mowing of the whole cover of the access route, and abstaining from giving permission to the public to camp, light fires, carry firearms, use vehicles, etc. (12 regulations)
