Single women under the banner of National Forum for Single Women’s Rights on Tuesday demanded that the government ensure their constitutional rights over land and livelihood.

Women leaders pointed out that in some states, they do not have legal right over land, while in others they do have such rights but without any mechanism of implementation.


In its Banking on Shaky Ground report, Oxfam Australia has accused the big four - Commonwealth Bank, Westpac, National Australia Bank and ANZ - of backing companies that have contributed to illegal logging, forced evictions, inadequate compensation, food shortages and child labour.

Very little aid is actually available to low-income urban groups and grassroots organizations. If it is, it is subject to the conditions and priorities established by the aid provider.


More than 60 participants from over a dozen countries participated in the 2011 Asia Land Forum, organized by ILC Asia in collaboration with Asian NGO Coalition for Agrarian  Reform and Rural Development, Community Self-Reliance Centre, and the Government of Nepal, on 20 to 21 October 2011 at the Soaltee Crowne Plaza in Kathmandu, Nepal.
