The FAO Legal Office provides in-house counsel in accordance with the Basic Texts of the Organization, gives legal advisory services to FAO members, assists in the formulation of treaties on food and agriculture, for which the Director-General acts as Depositary, publishes legal studies and maintains a database (FAOLEX) of national legislation and international agreements concerning food and agriculture (including fisheries, forestry and water).

Order No. 314 on regulations of the Farms Act.

This Order establishes additional provisions related to the Farms Act. A farm/land property can be registered as such and notification thereof shall be submitted to the Survey and Cadastre Authorities to ensure proper residency status. When establishing a new farm, or purchasing additional land, a 10-year residence proof is required by the purchaser within 6 months from the date the Survey and Cadastre Authorities have registered the cadastral changes. Provisions also include companies in other EU countries or countries that have signed the Agreement on the European Economic Area (EEA).

El presente Decreto reglamenta parcialmente la Ley que dicta disposiciones relacionadas con la administración de los bienes incautados en base a un proceso penal por los delitos de narcotráfico y conexos o a una acción de extinción del dominio, en relación a la administración del Fondo para la Rehabilitación, Inversión Social y Lucha contra el Crimen Organizado (FRISCO), respecto de los cuales se declare la extinción de dominio o se hayan decretado o se decreten medidas cautelares en procesos de extinción de dominio.

Governmental Decree No. 677 validating the Regulation on management of land of state natural parks.

This Governmental Decree classifies areas of state natural parks in three categories: (a) protected; (b) ecologically stabilizing; (c) tourist and recreational; and (d) area of limited economic activity. Any activity causing deterioration and exhaustion of natural resources and objects and also violating different protection regimes shall be prohibited on the territory of state natural parks.

This peace agreement between Ethiopia and Eritrea ad seeks to resolve the misunderstanding between the parties regarding their common border and establish a neutral Boundary Commission. The parties agree that the delimitation and demarcation determinations of the Commission shall be final and binding. Each party shall respect the border so determined, as well as territorial integrity and sovereignty of the other party. The Agreement also provides for the eatblishment of a a neutral Claims Commission.
