Mision / Vision
The Center for Development Studies (CENDES) is an experimental interdisciplinary institute under the umbrella of the Academic Vice-rectorate of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV). Since its creation in 1961, its main activities have been research, postgraduate teaching and the dissemination and extension of development sciences and planning techniques.
DESCO, Centro de Estudios y Promoción del Desarrollo, is a non-governmental development institution that has been part of Peruvian civil society for 53 years. It is dedicated to the promotion of social development and the strengthening of the capacities of the less favored sectors of the country. DESCO is defined as a private civil association with public purposes, which is related to popular organizations, social and political actors and State agencies, to contribute to the strengthening of civil society’s capacities and the elaboration of development proposals.
The Central American Integration System (Spanish: Sistema de la Integración Centroamericana, or SICA) has been the economic and political organization of Central American states since February 1, 1993. On December 13, 1991, the ODECA countries (Spanish: Organización de Estados Centroamericanos) signed the Protocol of Tegucigalpa, extending earlier cooperation for regional peace, political freedom, democracy and economic development. SICA's General Secretariat is in El Salvador.
Environment, Development and Sustainability is an international, multidisciplinary journal covering all aspects of the environmental impacts of socio-economic development. Concerned with the complex interactions between development and environment, its purpose is to seek ways and means for achieving sustainability in all human activities aimed at such development.
SOJOURN is an interdisciplinary journal devoted to the study of social and cultural issues in Southeast Asia. It publishes empirical and theoretical research articles to promote and disseminate scholarship in and on the region. Areas of special concern include ethnicity, religion, tourism, urbanization, migration, popular culture, social and cultural change, and development. Fields most often represented in the journal are anthropology, sociology and history.
