The German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) created the Special Initiative “One world, No hunger” aimed to eradicate extreme hunger and poverty. Special focus is on Action Area 6 “Promotion of responsible land use and improvement of access to land”.
Globally, increased investor interest in land is confronting various types of political mobilisations from communities at the grassroots level. This paper examines the case study of a land occupation movement called Chengara struggle in the largest corporate plantation in southern India. The movement is led by the historically dispossessed scheduled caste and scheduled tribe communities.

Las familias que actualmente habitan en La Esperanza han heredado sus tierras, pues sus ascendientes las ocuparon. Por esta razón y debido a que son personas arraigadas a su territorio, con la construcción de una carretera el problema se agudiza, varias familias migran por tener poca tierra, los pobladores residentes buscan alternativas como el agroturismo y así evitar la migración.
La Asociación de Pequeños Productores Agropecuarios de la Cristalina del Losada -ASOPEPROC-, como un mecanismo para la superación de la fuerte crisis social y económica que se vivió en la región. Así, 850 familias campesinas se organizaron para conformar esta organización, y transformaron las tradicionales prácticas de ganadería extensiva.
