The present report gives the complete description of the preparation of a land use map and also the preparation of a national map of livestock intensity, needed as LUS input. The present method allows the preparation of a multi-country land use map in two weeks with the work of 13 experts, and is comparable to the continuous of 130 working days. Further to that, the LUS has been validated with the support of GIS consultants. The report details the work realised during the workshop describing the LUS preparation for the United Republic of Tanzania.

This paper proposes an approach to assist countries in ensuring that NFM planning more strongly meets the needs and demands of forest-related national policy processes. The approach is based on an understanding that there is a multiplicity of issues and legitimate interests related to forests that require multipurpose information systems.

El presente documento realiza una síntesis de las experiencias de manejo y gestión de cuencas en el Ecuador; a la vez que, a partir de teorías y tendencias relacionadas con este tema hace también una reflexión sobre las mismas. Además expone un estudio de caso en una cuenca gestionada a través de un proyecto de la FAO para mostrar una metodología de evaluación rápida, de tipo cualitativa, basada en opiniones de los diferentes actores que han participado en el proceso, así como en las visiones externas de técnicos que visitaron el sitio.

Forest governance assessment is an expanding practice. People are using Assessments to watch for developing problems, diagnose needs for reform, Monitor progress of programs, and evaluate impacts. Governments, civil society Organizations, development partners, academics and coalitions of stakeholders Have all performed assessments in recent years. In 2012, an expert meeting at fao headquarters in rome recommended the creation of a guide to good practices in forest governance assessment and data collection.
