This Act applies wherever an authority expropriates land or in the exercise of its lawful powers, causes the injurious affection of land. 'Expropriation' means the acquisition of title to land without the consent of the owner. Due compensation shall be determined in accordance with the provisions under this Act. This Act consists of 55 sections and two schedules. Section 3 provides for the exercise of expropriation power the description and plan of the land must comply with section 4. Duties of the authority are prescribed under section 9. Section 13 deals with the vesting of title and certificate. Compensation is dealt with in sections 15 and 16. Possession proceedings are dealt with in section 20, and time limits can be found in sections 23 to 24. Section 25 deals with compensation for injurious affection, and section 28 outlines compensation for disturbance of an owner. Interest upon unpaid compensation is dealt with in section 35. Section 44 deals with appeal to the Court of Appeal in respect of the certified amount of compensation. Abandonment of expropriation is dealt with at section 50.
