These Regulations, consisting of 67 sections divided into five Parts and completed by six Schedules (schedule 7 is rescinded), implement provisions of the local Government Act 1993.The Regulations, among other things, provide for the Elections of mayor and deputy mayor by councillors; Hearing and determination of election disputes; Tenders for goods and services; Annual reporting requirements in relation to tenders and contracts; contracts; the compulsory acquisition of land by the council for purposes that include the extension of public land, establishment of drainage systems and waste management facilities, and the establishment of works for the prevention and control of floods, etc. The Regulations are divided as follows: Preliminary (1); Elections (2); Tendering and Contracting (3); Miscellaneous (4); Part 5 is rescinded. Schedules are as follows: Order of Names on Batch of Ballot Papers (1); Declaration of Office (2); Fees (3); Allowances for elected members (4); Council Land Information Certificate (5); Questions (6);
