The National Policy for the Comprehensive Advancement and Development of Women (PNPDIM) and the Equal Opportunity Plan (PEO) 2008–2023 are a cross-sectoral policy and plan to be implemented at the national level for a period of 15 years, from 2008 to 2023. The main objective of the PNDPIM and PEO is to promote the development of Mayan, Garifuna, Xinca and mestizo women in all spheres of economic, social, political and cultural life.

El Plan Operativo Sectorial Agropecuario 2014 (POA) es un instrumento de desarrollo de corto plazo y de carácter operativo, que sirve de marco de referencia para orientar y sistematizar de forma racional los recursos presupuestarios del Ministerio de Agricultura, con la finalidad de contribuir al bienestar económico y social de la población dominicana, y en especial, de los productores agropecuarios.

El Plan del Sector Desarrollo Agropecuario - Revolución Rural y Agraria 2010-2020 ha sido formulado por el Gobierno de Bolivia en el 2010 y contiene ejes estratégicos sectoriales para el desarrollo del sector que serán implementados a través de programas priorizados a partir del año 2010 hasta el 2020 en las áreas de apoyo a la producción agropecuaria, el tratamiento de la temática tierra, recursos forestales y el desarrollo de la coca y su industrialización.

La Estrategia Nacional de Desarrollo Agropecuario y Rural es una política nacional sectorial para el desarrollo agropecuario y rural en Bolivia. El objetivo principal de la Estrategia es contribuir a incrementar el ingreso y empleo de los productores agropecuarios y rurales, dotándoles de conocimientos y medios para insertarse de manera sostenida y competitiva en los mercados, en un marco de inclusión, equidad social, cultural y de género. Las acciones propuestas apuntan a lograr un conjunto de metas hasta el 2007 y el 2015.

Achieving urban food and nutrition security in the developing world

The trend is inescapable: more and more people in the developing world are living in the cities. By 2020, the number of people living in developing countries will grow from 4.9 billion to 6.8 billion. Ninety percent of this increase will be in rapidly expanding cities and towns. More than half the population of Africa and Asia will live in urban areas by 2020. More than three-quarters of Latin Americans already do.

The second of three books in IFPRI's climate change in Africa series, East African Agriculture and Climate Change: A Comprehensive Analysis examines the food security threats facing 10 of the countries that make up east and central Africa - Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eritrea, Kenya, Madagascar, Rwanda, Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda - and explores how climate change will increase the efforts needed to achieve sustainable food security throughout the region. East Africa's populations is expected to grow at least through mid-century. The region will also see income growth.

A large body of literature makes the argument that commercialization of agriculture has mainly negative effects on the employment, incomes, food production and consumption, health, and nutrition of the poor. In Commercialization of Agriculture, Economic Development, and Nutrition, Joachim von Braun and Eileen Kennedy find that the conclusion that commercialization of agriculture is generally bad for nutrition is flawed.

This study employs IFPRI’s IMPACT model to generate projections of global fi sh supply and demand. IMPACT covers the world in 115 model regions for a range of agricultural commodities, to which fi sh and fi sh products are added for this study. As is the case with most global modeling work, an important value that IMPACT brings to this study is an internally consistent framework for analyzing and organizing the underlying data.
