The present Act approves, gives effect to and declares valid the Agreement between the Committee for Original Peoples’ Entitlement, representing the Inuvialuit of the Inuvialuit Settlement Region, and the Government of Canada. For the purpose of the present Act “Territory” means the Northwest Territories, Yukon and adjacent offshore areas, not forming part of the Northwest Territories or Yukon, within the sovereignty or jurisdiction of Canada. The text consists of 8 sections.

The present Agreement - made under section 35 of the Constitution of Canada - is a basic document that lays out the governing power of each of the 5 Maa-nulth First Nations. Each of the five nations has their own constitution . This means that they have the authority to enact laws and govern themselves. The law-making powers include lands and land management, such as land ownership, land registration, expropriation, sub surface ownership, protection of land base, submerged land, watershed land. Other fields are social development, cultural heritage, education, economic development.

The present Agreement - made under section 35 of the Constitution of Canada - consists of 22 chapters that exhaustively define Nisga’a rights and responsibilities in relation to land, natural resources, governance, the administration of justice, the environment, taxation and numerous other matters, such as lands, land titles, forest resources, fisheries, wildife and migratory birds, environmental assessment and protection, administration of Justice, transition of the Indian Act.

The present Act approves, gives effect to and declares valid certain agreements between the Grand Council of the Crees (of Quebec), the Northern Quebec Inuit Association, the Government of Quebec la Société d’énergie de la Baie James, la Société de développement de la Baie James, la Commission hydro-électrique de Québec and the Government of Canada and certain other related agreements to which the Government of Canada is a party. For the purpose of the present Act. For the purpose of the Act “Territory” has the meaning assigned to that word by subsection 1.16 of the Agreement.

The present Act approves, gives effect to and declares valid the Nisga’a Final Agreement. Section 9 establishes that there shall be paid out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund the sums that are required to meet the obligations of Canada under the Capital Transfer and Negotiation Loan Repayment Chapter and the Fisheries Chapter of the Nisga’a Final Agreement. Inuvialuit Final Agreement.

The basic goals of the present Agreement - made under section 35 of the Constitution of Canada - are to: 1) preserve Inuvialuit cultural identity and values within a changing northern society; 2) enable Inuvialuit to be equal and meaningful participants in the northern and national economy and society; 3) protect and preserve the Arctic wildlife, environment and biological productivity. In the Agreement, the Inuvialuit agree to give up their exclusive use of their ancestral lands in exchange for certain other guaranteed rights from the Government of Canada.

For the purpose of the present Act “Agreement” means the Maa-nulth First Nations Final Agreement, between the Maanulth First Nations, Her Majesty in right of Canada and Her Majesty in right of British Columbia, including any amendments made to it. This Order establishes the proceedings for drafting and submittal to state executive bodies and local government pleas for enforcement of land legislation. State agricultural inspection and its officials shall be authorized draft and submit pleas for enforcement of land legislation. Pleas shall be submitted for the following purposes: (a) conformation to the acting legislation of decisions adopted by state executive bodies and local government related to regulation of land relations and land protection; (b) use restriction for land; and (c) mitigation of violations of land legislation.

The present Agreement - made under section 35 of the Constitutino of Canada - constitutes the full and final settlement in respect of the aboriginal rights, including aboriginal title, in Canada of Yale First Nation. For the purpose of the present Agreement “section 35 Rights of Yale First Nation” means the rights, anywhere in Canada, of Yale First Nation, that are recognized and affirmed by section 35 of the Constitution Act, 1982.
