La presente Ley dicta normas sobre contratos de aparcería y otras formas de explotación de la tierra La aparcería es un contrato mediante el cual una parte que se denomina propietario acuerde con otra que se llama aparcero, explotar en mutua colaboración un fundo rural o una porción de este con el fin de repartirse entre si los frutos o utilidades que resulten de la explotación.

The Act facilitates dealings in land by providing for incorporation of owners of native land and powers of assembled owners (preamble). The objects of incorporation include: to occupy and manage the land as a plantation or farm, to use the land for the growing of timber, to engage in coal mining and to arrange for the lease of land (sect. 5).

The Act relates to the control, administration and disposal of Crown land. The Act is divided into 7 Parts: Preliminary (I); Land acquired or leased by the Crown (II); Crown grants (III); Leases and licences of Crown lands (IV); Special provisions relating to foreshore land and soil under waters of Fiji (V); Special provisions related to licences for laying down tramlines, etc.

The Act makes provisions for the conservation and improvement of the land and water resources. It establishes the Land Conservation Board (sect. 3) to exercise general supervision over land and water resources (sect. 5a) and to make conservation orders (sect. 7), closing orders (sect. 8) and orders to do work (sect. 9). Conservation Committees may be established to advise the Board.

The Act is divided into 4 Parts: Preliminary (I); Control of native Land (II); Native Reserves (III); Miscellaneous (IV).The Act establishes a board of trustees called the Native Land Trust Board (sect. 3) in which the control of all native land shall be vested (sect. 4). The Act makes provision for the alienation, transfer and lease of native land. The Board may create a native reserve (sect.

Native lands shall be held by native Fijians according to native custom as evidenced by usage and tradition. Such lands may be cultivated, allotted and dealt with by native Fijians amongst themselves according to their native custom (sect. 3). The Act further creates the Native Lands Commission to establish what lands are the rightful and hereditary property of native owners (sect. 4).

The Act provides for the relations between landlords and tenants of agricultural holdings. The 64 sections are divided into 7 Parts: Preliminary (I); Security of Tenure (II); Agricultural Tribunals and Committee of Valuers (III); Powers and Duties of Tribunal (IV); Rights of Landlord and Tenant (V); Appeals (VI); Miscellaneous (VII).

The Act regulates the acquisition of land by the Crown for public purposes. It establishes the power to acquire land for any public purpose and powers to make a preliminary investigation (sects. 3 and 4). The acquiring authority shall not compulsorily acquire land unless he has obtained a Court Order that was applied for (sect. 6).

This Law provides for the better protection of the foreshore. The law defines the foreshore as the lands within a distance not exceeding one hundred yards from high water mark, as the Minister may prescribe. The Law contains provisions on the prohibition to interfere with the foreshore, on restrictions upon structures on the foreshore.

The Proclamation is divided into 7 Chapters: Introduction (I); Urban Lands (II); Urban Houses (III); Rent (IV); Cooperative Societies of Urban Dwellers (V); Powers and Duties of the Ministry (VI); General Provisions (VII). The Proclamation vests all urban lands in the Government (sect. 3).
