The FAO Legal Office provides in-house counsel in accordance with the Basic Texts of the Organization, gives legal advisory services to FAO members, assists in the formulation of treaties on food and agriculture, for which the Director-General acts as Depositary, publishes legal studies and maintains a database (FAOLEX) of national legislation and international agreements concerning food and agriculture (including fisheries, forestry and water).

This Decree, consisting of 5 articles, creates the Water and Soil Conservation Policy in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, coordinated by the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, in order to stimulate and promote actions aimed at soil and water conservation. This Policy aims to improve the productive, social and environmental relations.

Land administration includes matters of land ownership, land use, soil protection, real estate registration, land survey and mapping. Duties relating to such activities are competency of land administration offices which are coordinated centrally by the Minister. Detailed regulations regarding duties, competencies, authorities, organization and operation are subject of ministerial decrees. Offices are organized on a territorial basis.
