LAND GOVERNANCE IN TRANSITION:
How to support transformations that work for people and nature?
This forum will bring together each of the key themes and players from our previous events on smallholder farmer resilience, deforestation and sustainable agriculture. The Sustainable Landscapes Conference will tackle the biggest issues faced by business in creating a net positive impact and ensuring sustainable and resilient agricultural supply chains.
DIA 15 DE AGOSTO – Quarta-feira
"Transforming Africa's Development Through Innovation, Youth & Technology" - There has been some progress on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Africa since their introduction in 2015, but to achieve the equitable and prosperous future that the continent strives for, progress must be transformational. Technology, innovation and youth will be key drivers in this transformation and impact investment and innovative finance will help to catalyse growth.
Women account for 60–80 per cent of smallholder farmers and comprise the largest percentage of the workforce in the agricultural sector. Inequalities between women and men in access to land, productive resources, income-generating activities and public consultation spaces seriously undermine women’s capacity to contribute to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Ahead of the UNFCCC COP23 in Bonn, the Donor Platform is pleased to invite you to a webinar to learn and discuss about a recent Oxfam report on finance to women farmers. The report looks at whether and to what extent women are obtaining adequate support for farming and adapting to climate change.
Rights to land and resources are at the center of our most pressing development issues: poverty reduction, food security, conflict, urbanization, gender equality, climate change, and resilience. Secure Land Tenure and Property Rights (LTPR) create incentives for investment, broad-based economic growth, and good stewardship of natural resources.
