Na última década o processo de mundialização do capital intensificou a territorialização das corporações multinacionais em diversos países da África, Ásia e América Latina. Estas empresas têm comprado e ou arrendado terras para a produção de monocultivos agrícolas e agroenergia. Denominamos, neste artigo, como - estrangeirização de terras – considerando que cada vez mais, estas corporações ampliam seus controles territoriais ameaçando a soberania dos países.

O presente comunicado está estruturado em três partes:

1. contextualização do conflito;
2. qualificação do meio processual em concreto aplicado para a defesa do DUAT;
3. apresentação do comentário sobre a Sentença propriamente dita.

Since 1999 foreign governments have given large financial and political support to the building of the Mozal aluminium smelter in Mozambique. Half the costs of building Mozal came directly from publicly owned institutions, or were guaranteed by them. In return, they and the private investors have received large returns in profit and interest. But the Mozambique government has been left with very little.

Mozambique is set to become a world-class natural resource exporter with projections indicating that it will experience rapid increases in windfall revenues over the next several decades and well beyond. While this is welcome news for a low-income country with a substantial proportion of the population below the poverty line, it foreshadows some economic management problems ahead. The main concern is the poor economic record of many other low-income countries with large natural resource endowments.

Os objectivos específicos deste projecto consistem na assistência à interpretação do actual enquadramento legislativo de Moçambique (no contexto de projectos de GNL) e no apoio ao desenvolvimento de um quadro jurídico que permita aos projectos de GNL desenvolverem se assegurando, ao mesmo tempo, um resultado positivo para o país.

The mainstay of this report, however, is not so much an examination of the extractive industries themselves as an examination of the Mozambican government’s and society’s ability to handle the impacts of these industries and where capacity growth is most urgently needed. In this regard, this investigation looks at three principal areas. The first area is about maximizing the receipts that reach legitimate government coffers. This includes the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, which ensures that company and governmentpayments match.

China’s investment and trade in Africa’s natural resource sectors have significant implications for Africa’s forests. Many investments are in forest areas. Some directly engage in logging while others, such as mining, infrastructure and agribusiness, affect forests and rural livelihoods. This report provides an overview of trends, evidence and issues related to the impacts on forests of Chinese investments in four African countries: Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Mozambique and Uganda.

This report provides information on due diligence and effective conflict management through consultation in the context of community land conflicts. It identifies some key steps to follow to integrate community land conflict into enhanced project risk assessments.

The Mekong Region Land Governance (MRLG) project, MLIKE (Mekong Land Information and Knowledge Exchange),  and the Land Portal co-facilitated an online dialogue on “Responsible Large Scale Agricultural Investments in the Mekong Region” on 09-27 October 2017. The full dialogue can be read here. This report delineates the key messages emerging from the dialogue.

A special economic zone (SEZ) is an area in which business and trade laws are different from rest of the country. SEZs are located within a country's national borders, and their aims include: increased trade, increased investment, job creation and effective administration. To encourage businesses to set up in the zone, financial policies are introduced.
