As a consequence, most of the region's biodiversity has been extirpated, and because of political forces over the past few decades very little current information on the biodiversity status of this ecoregion is known.

Covers what is ‘land’ and what ‘property’ in the proposed Constitution?; where is land covered; common questions…with some answers; what does the proposed Constitution actually say and not say about land?; so what is the verdict? Concludes that it opens the door to significant reforms and failure to perform could be a matter of challenge in the courts. Ordinary Kenyans will need to hold the State to account in devising appropriate legislation and programmes swiftly and with the maximum of public participation.

Terminos Lagoon ecosystem is the largest fluvial-lagoon estuarine system in the country and one of the most important reserves of coastal flora and fauna in Mexico. Since the seventies, part of the main infrastructure for country's oil extraction is located in this area. Its high biodiversity has motivated different type of studies including deforestation processes and land use planning. In this work we used satellite image analysis to determine land cover changes in the area from 1974 to 2001.

En este número sobre suelos hemos planteado una serie de preguntas clave: ¿debe extenderse o comprimirse el suelo urbano? ¿Quién asume los costos y quién recibe las ganancias? ¿Contribuye esa respuesta a la igualdad entre los habitantes de la ciudad? Las respuestas aquí presentadas evidencian que la noción de ‘suelo urbano’ es un territorio en disputa donde el punto de vista si importa pues tiene, literalmente, consecuencias de escala urbana.

El presente artículo toma a Santiago de Chile como ejemplo para discutir los desafíos que la dispersión urbana supone para la gobernanza.
