The Act makes provisions for the conservation and improvement of the land and water resources. It establishes the Land Conservation Board (sect. 3) to exercise general supervision over land and water resources (sect. 5a) and to make conservation orders (sect. 7), closing orders (sect. 8) and orders to do work (sect. 9). Conservation Committees may be established to advise the Board. (23 sections)

Cette loi porte limitation du morcellement des propriétés agricoles situées à l'intérieur des périmètres d'irrigation et des périmètres de mise en valeur en bour délimités. Dans les périmètres d'irrigation, la superficie minimum d'exploitation est fixée à 5 hectares; à l'extérieur elle doit être suffisante pour dégager un revenu permettant de rémunérer deux travailleurs agricoles. Font exception les morcellements pour la création ou l'extension d'entreprises non agricoles et en cas d'expropriation pour cause d'utilité publique.

IV), mediante el artículo 23, se crea el Instituto Nacional de Desarrollo Agrario (INDA), como entidad de derecho público, con ámbito nacional, personalidad jurídica y patrimonio propio, adscrito al Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería. El INDA substituye en sus funciones al Instituto Ecuatoriano de Reforma Agraria (IERAC).

This Executive Order has been made in implementation of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Programme (CARP) launched by the Presidential Proclamation No. 131 of 22 July 1987, published in the same Official Gazette, p. 3422-0-1.

" Special terms and conditions on which State lands in Guyana can be obtained for the cultivation on a large scale of rubber, limes and other citrus fruit, cacao, coffee, fibres, coconuts, and other permanent agricultural products under the State Lands Act". The Regulations provide in detail for Grants, licences and permissions (application, renewal, transfer, reversion) (Part I), Surveys (II), Sale of preferential claims in case of plurality of applications (III), Grants to small cultivators (IV), Leases (for agricultural and grazing purposes) (V), Permissions for grazing areas on the pasture lands of the interior (VI), Licences of Occupancy (VII), Licences to cut wood (VIII), Licences to collect balata, gums etc. (IX), Licences for quarrying stone, gravel, kaolin and other clays (X), Miscellaneous provisions (XI).

This Act amends provisions of the principal Act with the scope of bringing about improvement of the offer of arable land including land suitable for fast growing timber forestry. Provisions deal with revision of lease rates, alienation of land within 10 years after acquisition with preferential rights by former leaseholders, public lease, special short-term lease contracts, protection of leaseholders against strict terms imposed by landlords and other connected matters. The Act makes provisions for leases in respect of short term crops. Section 3 states that 'any person desirous of growing a short term crop shall be deemed to have a valid and enforceable lease of land for that purpose upon the covenants and terms set forth in the Schedule or on such terms as parties may agree'. The Schedule provides for a standard lease agreement.

This Act provides for a further regulation of land tenure contracts between rice farmers and landlords in order to strengthen the position of the former. The Minister may establish committees which shall perform several duties in relation with the assessment of rents and the observance of conditions of contracts of tenancy in a specified area (sects. 8 to 26). The Minister may make regulations to implement provisions of this Act (sect. 55). (59 sections and 5 Schedules)

These Regulations implement provisions of the Rice Farmers (Security of Tenure) Act. They regulate the procedures of application for the ascertainment of maximum rent with an Assessment Committee under section 12 of the Act. (5 regulations and 4 Forms)

The Act makes provision for the collection of taxes on acres of land imposed by Parliament. Rates of levy may vary according to the use of (arable) land. The proprietor of any plantation or any land of which any acreage tax is payable, shall provide the Commissioner of Land each year with a return in Form 1 contained in the Schedule.
