The FAO Legal Office provides in-house counsel in accordance with the Basic Texts of the Organization, gives legal advisory services to FAO members, assists in the formulation of treaties on food and agriculture, for which the Director-General acts as Depositary, publishes legal studies and maintains a database (FAOLEX) of national legislation and international agreements concerning food and agriculture (including fisheries, forestry and water).

The purpose of this Act is to prevent speculation in land and promote the effective utilization of land by restitution development gains accruing from land and duly distributing them, thereby contributing to the sound development of the national economy. For the purpose of the present Act “development gains" means increases in land prices that are reverted to the landowner or a person executing the development projects in excess of increases in normal land prices, due to the execution of development projects, changes to a land-use plan, or other social or economic factors.
Building Act.
The purposes of this Act are to improve the safety, functions, environment, and aesthetic view of buildings, and to promote public welfare by establishing the standards for and purposes of use of sites, structures, and facilities of buildings. The term "site" means a parcel of land partitioned under the Act on the Establishment, Management of Spatial Data: Provided, that at least two parcels of land or part of at least one parcel of land may be deemed one site if they are parcels of land prescribed by Presidential Decree.
Decree No. 29/2008/ND-CP providing for Industrial Parks, Export Processing Zones and Economic Zones.
This Decree, consisting of 40 articles divided into six Chapters, provides for the establishment, operation, state management of and policies toward industrial parks, export processing zones, economic zones and border-gate economic zones. This Decree applies to state management agencies, organizations and individuals related to activities of investment, production and business in industrial parks, export processing zones, economic zones and border-gate economic zones. This Law consisting of 47 articles provides for all matters relating to the establishment, management and operation of development areas. The boundaries of these areas are determined by a decision from the Council of Ministers.
Law of Succession Act (2008)
The Act regulates succession in Estonia. Specifically, it provides that succession is the transfer of the property of a person upon his or her death to another person. A bequeather is a person whose property transfers upon his or her death to another person. An estate is the property of a bequeather. An estate does not include the rights and obligations of the bequeather which pursuant to law or by their nature are inseparably bound to the person of the bequeather. Notably, special rules govern the legal relations involving the property that is included in the land register.
