The present Act establishes the community government of Behchoko, Whatì, Gamètì, and Wekweetì, and describes their boundaries. This Act covers the composition and role of the community council, eligibility to vote, the duties of the chief, and it details the powers of these municipalities.
Northwest Territories Intergovernmental Agreement on Lands and Resources Management Act (S.N.W.T. 2014, c. 11).
For the purpose of the present Act "Intergovernmental Agreement" means the Northwest Territories Intergovernmental Agreement on Lands and Resources Management between the Government of the Northwest Territories and the Aboriginal Parties that was made on February 27, 2014; and "Aboriginal Party" means the Gwich’in Tribal Council, Inuvialuit Regional Corporation, Northwest Territory Métis Nation, Sahtu Secretariat Inc., Tåîchô Government and any other Aboriginal Government that becomes a party to the Intergovernmental Agreement.
Northwest Territories Lands Regulations (N.W.T. Reg. 018-2014).
The present Regulations are made under section 6 of the Northwest Territories Lands Act. Section 4 establishes that an application to lease or purchase territorial lands must be made to a land agent and must be accompanied by the application fee set out in the Schedule. Petroleum Lands Royalty Regulations (N.W.T. Reg. 023-2014).
The present Regulations are made under section 66 of the Petroleum Resources Act. In particular, the Regulations lay down provisions relating to the levying of royalties for oil exploitations. The text – consisting of 23 sections – deals with the following aspects: interpretation, prescribed royalties, exemption, payment of prescribed royalty, deferral of royalty, certification of an abandonment and restoration royalty trust, return allowance, certification of qualified petroleum exploration expenses, reports and returns, interests, penalties and refunds.
Oil and Gas Land Regulations (N.W.T. Reg. 016-2014).
The present Regulations are made under section 19 of the Northwest Territories Lands Act. In particular, the Regulations lay down provisions relating to the administration and disposition of oil and gas explorations in the Province. Section 2 establishes that for the purposes of these Regulations, Canada lands shall be divided into grid areas.
