At least 1.76 million jobs in the nation of about 16 million people are at risk due to COVID-19, while the poverty rate could double, to about one-in-four people, the World Bank said in May. Cambodian human rights groups have this year called for a freeze on loan repayments due to the virus and for lenders to return more than one million land titles held as collateral.

Support continues for enhancing land governance and tenure security. This is evident in the response and effort from embassies, NGOs and knowledge institutes.

The Analyzing Development Issues Centre (ADIC) was registered with Cambodia’s Ministry of the Interior on 4 April 2011. ADIC began from the Cooperation Committee of Cambodia (CCC)’s Analyzing Development Issues (ADI) Project in 1999 and transformed as an NGO in 2011. ADIC’s initial goal was to increase the critical thinking skills of NGO staff and their capacity to analyze development issues through development research that contributes to beneficial social change in local communities.

ALRD envisions a Bangladesh where upholding the rights of the citizen is the cornerstone of the State and where the State is pro-actively pursuing the promotion and strengthening of the rights of poor and the marginalized, including the most vulnerable of the society; landless peasants, indigenous peoples, women and religious and other minority communities.
