QC govt buys land for housing project of 3,000 informal settlers

The Quezon City government has bought a property in Barangay Bagong Silangan and Payatas  to house some 3,000 informal settlers. 

Mayor Joy Belmonte has signed the deeds of sale of 214,057 square meter property.

“Ito’y umpisa ng hangarin nating mabigyan ng katiyakan sa paninirahan ang mga informal settlers sa ating siyudad (This is the start of our dream to assure informal settlers that they would have their own homes in the city),” Belmonte said, noting that when she was elected mayor, part of her agenda is to address the concerns of the city’s informal settlers.

Lands dept looks at providing affordable housing

The Lands Department is looking at providing affordable housing for public servants as well as taxpayers.


Minister John Rosso made their intention known during a recent press brieng in Port Moresby.


Creating aordable housing in PNG’s urban centres is a complicated and daunting task considering the large number of squatters on State land, land ownership issues, the connection of utilities and reticulation on the land itself.

Ecuador is planning to sell a bond worth $400 million to fund the country's social housing project


QUITO (Reuters) - Ecuador is planning to sell a bond worth $400 million to fund the country's social housing project, a source familiar with the matter said on Tuesday, as the government attempts to revive its economy with investments in the construction sector.


The bond will be backed by the Inter-American Development Bank.
