Input files contain the characteristics of the crop, of the environment (climate, management, soil) in which the crop is cultivated, and of the conditions outside the growing period and at the start of the simulation run. By default the input files are stored in the DATA subdirectory of the AquaCrop folder.

AquaCrop-GIS has been designed to facilitate the use of the AquaCrop model (Steduto et al., 2009) when a high number of simulations is needed, simplifying the task of generating input and projects files and the management of output files. The AquaCrop-GIS tool prepares the required inputs, executes AquaCrop, elaborates the results and shows them in a Geographic Information System. This Manual describes how to use AquaCrop-GIS to carry out as many AquaCrop simulations as required, while the tool is described in detail in Lorite et al. (2013).

The initial Asia-Pacific Forestry Sector Outlook Study (APFSOS) drew together the myriad forestry dimensions to provide a coherent description and analysis of the situation and prospects for forestry in the region. The study resulted in 50 working papers on a variety of forestry themes. The formal aspects of the study culminated in a comprehensive main report, published in November 1998. APFSOS provided an important roadmap for forestry sector development in the Asia-Pacific region to 2010, which is still being used to guide policy makers in the region today.

Land take is a phenomenon of great concern nowadays because of the large number of its negative impacts regarding biological, economic and social balance. In Italy, the development of urban and other artificial land has been irreversibly transforming a non-renewable resource such as soil, regardless the almost constant population rate, with different speed depending of the region considered.
