The Law consists of 33 articles and is divided into four Chapters: General provisions (1); The Citizens' land (2); Lands belonging to the State, municipalities, cooperative farms and other legal persons (3); and Land property authorities (4).The Law regulates the ownership and use of agricultural lands. With the exception of game reserves and other nature protected areas with national and international significance, ownership is returned to owners whose land was taken under the April 1946 Law of landownership.

La presente Ley, que consta de 19 artículos, tiene por finalidad promover la conservación, mejora y restauración de los suelos y las aguas, que son parte de los recursos naturales renovables del país (art. 1º). El Ministerio de Agricultura e Industrias será el organismos encargado de poner en práctica esta Ley (art. 3º); clasificará las diversas clases de suelos por su valor agronómico, estableciendo las zonas aptas para su explotación agrícola, ganadera y forestal (art. 4º).

This Act applies to agricultural land and establishes the Dominica Land Management Authority and provides for its powers and functions (sects. 3 and 24). The objectives of the Authority are, inter alia, to develop proper land use in state-owned and privately owned lands, to borrow funds and make loans to farmers, to purchase land to create economic farm units, to provide training for farmers, to assist in promoting the development of agriculture (sect. 4). "Agriculture" includes forestry and fisheries. The Authority may make loans to farmers (sect.

This Law provides for town and country planning, for regulating the use, controlling and promoting the development of immovable property. The authority competent ("planning authority") for the purposes of this Law shall be, as the case may be, the Minister of Finance (as far as Part II is concerned) and the Minister of Interior elsewhere; however, the expression "the Minister" shall include any person, body or authority delegated by the Minister to exercise his functions under this Law.

The Land Reform Act determines the bases for restructuring relations regarding land (land reform). Based on the continuity of rights of former owners and the interests of current land users that are protected by law, and to establish preconditions for more effective use of land, the objective of land reform is to transform relations based on state ownership of land into relations primarily based on private ownership of land.

The Proclamation is divided into 6 Chapters: Introduction (1); Public Ownership of Rural Lands (2); Establishment of Associations for the Implementation of the Proclamation (3); Powers and Functions of the Minister of Land Reform and Administration (4); Communal and Nomadic Lands (5); General Provisions (6).The Proclamation declares all rural lands to be the collective property of the Ethiopian people and abolishes private ownership of rural land (sect. 3). Peasant Associations are in charge of the redistribution, cultivation, administration etc. of rural lands.

The Act provides for the protection of farmers whose titles to land are found to be defective. Titles to land for the purpose of farming acquired after the commencement of this Act shall be deemed extinguished if the land is not used for farming for a period of eight years (sect. 1). Where a farmer has, in good faith, acquired any land by customary law or otherwise in a prescribed area for purposes of farming in the period between 1940 and 1962, such title shall be validated notwithstanding any defect in the title (sects. 2-1). Land Conservation and Improvement Act.

The Act makes provisions for the conservation and improvement of the land and water resources. It establishes the Land Conservation Board (sect. 3) to exercise general supervision over land and water resources (sect. 5a) and to make conservation orders (sect. 7), closing orders (sect. 8) and orders to do work (sect. 9). Conservation Committees may be established to advise the Board. (23 sections)

Agricultural Land (Declaration of Unimproved Capital Values) Order.

The Order is made under section 21 of The Agricultural Landlord and Tenant Act, and contains the declaration by the Valuers Committee of the unimproved capital values of the different classes of agricultural land the subject of an agricultural holding. The classified lands are grazing land, dairy lands, rice land, arable land and tree crops.
