The FAO Legal Office provides in-house counsel in accordance with the Basic Texts of the Organization, gives legal advisory services to FAO members, assists in the formulation of treaties on food and agriculture, for which the Director-General acts as Depositary, publishes legal studies and maintains a database (FAOLEX) of national legislation and international agreements concerning food and agriculture (including fisheries, forestry and water).

These Regulations make provision in respect of applications for scheduled monument consent to the Scottish Ministers. The Regulations, among other things, make provision as to the certificates which must accompany an application and prescribe the form of notice of application which must be given by the applicant to owners of the monument to which the application relates.

Ce décret-loi porte dispositions relatives à l'aménagement urbain et du territoire. Il règlemente, notamment: i) le schéma d'aménagement urbain, qui définit les principes d'aménagement d'une agglomération, arrête le programme des investissements publics et coordonne l'action administrative; ii) les plans locaux et particuliers d'aménagement; iii) les plans régionaux d'aménagement, où figurent l'affectation dominante des zones principales de la région, les emplacements réservés aux principaux équipements d'intérêt régional et le tracé approximatif des voies et communications.

The Regulation makes provision regarding the following: payments on land in irrigation areas or special land districts, interests on arrears, addition of land to perpetual leases, transfer of yearly leases, conditions for yearly leases, appeals, restrictions on the exercise of mortgagee's powers, devolution under a will or an intestacy, fees for the valuation of land, subdivision of holdings, redetermination of rent of certain leases, objections to, and appeals against, determinations or redeterminations, purchase of land held under lease, fees to be paid for surveys.

Ce décret porte création, attributions, organisation et fonctionnement des guichets uniques du foncier. Le guichet unique du foncier a pour missions de faciliter et de simplifier les formalités domaniales et foncières prévues à l’article 4, et notamment il traite des demandes et des dossiers en matière domaniale et foncière (opérations d’attribution de terrain à usage autre que d’habitation; attestation d’attribution de parcelle; permis urbain d’habiter;.etc..).

The Act makes provision with respect to titles in land, the development of selected land, and the resolution of disputes regarding land and various other matters relating to land. As a corollary to the principle that land in Lesotho is vested absolutely and irrevocably in the Basotho Nation and is held by the State, no person, other than the State, shall hold any title to land except as provided for under customary law or under this Act. Where the customary law is inconsistent with this Act, this Act shall prevail (sect. 3).
