The FAO Legal Office provides in-house counsel in accordance with the Basic Texts of the Organization, gives legal advisory services to FAO members, assists in the formulation of treaties on food and agriculture, for which the Director-General acts as Depositary, publishes legal studies and maintains a database (FAOLEX) of national legislation and international agreements concerning food and agriculture (including fisheries, forestry and water).

Nitmiluk (Katherine Gorge) National Park Act.

This Act provides for the establishment and management of the Nitmiluk (Katherine Gorge) National Park. The park will also ensure the right of Aboriginals, who are traditionally the owner of certain lands, to occupy and use that land. For the administration of the park, the Act establishes the Nitmiluk (Katherine Gorge) National Park Board, whose functions include to prepare plans of management for the control and management of the park and to protect and enforce the right of Aboriginals entitled by Aboriginal tradition to use and occupy the park.

The present Law lays down provisions relating to the correct and efficient enforcement of the Federal Acts on agriculture, rural soil and agricultural lease.
