A minor amendment is made to section 14 concerning acquisition of agricultural land by the Minister in the public interest. A minor amendment concern notices to be given under section 78.

The purpose of these Regulations is to rationally develop urban planning and strengthen the management of urban planning. The Regulations consist of 33 Articles divided into 5 Chapters, dealing with: General provisions; preparation and approval of urban planning; development of new urban districts and the rebuilding of the old areas; legal liability and supplementary provisions.The Regulations provide for the procedures of, and requirements for formulation, approval, amendment and implementation of urban and rural planning.

Decree No. 44 of the Ministry of Public Health validating the Regulation on maximum permissible rates of concentration of oil in land and soil.

This Decree validates the rates of maximum permissible rates of concentration of oil in land and soil as follows: (a) for urban land, land of subsidiary smallholding cooperatives, forest land, land of public water fund, agricultural land, environmental protection, recreational land and land of historical and cultural heritage 50 mg/kg; and (b) industrial land, transport, communications, energy, defence and other categories of land 100 mg/kg.

The Regulation approves the tariffs of using pastures and lawns for gazing and other farming activities in accordance with the table attached to this decision. The Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Water Administration is the responsible authority for its implementation.

The National Irrigation Policy is a sectoral national policy adopted by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture to address the problems, constraints and opportunities, which cut across the whole irrigation sub-sector; and specifically for informal, formal and commercial irrigation. The Policy’s goal is to achieve sustainable growth and enhanced performance of irrigation contributing fully to the goals of the Ghanaian agriculture sector.

Ministerial Decree No. 555 regarding validation of the Regulation on the modalities of conservation of degraded agricultural land and land contaminated by toxic industrial waste and by nuclear waste.

The Government decrees to validate the Regulation. The Committee on Land Reform and Land Resources attached to the Government, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the Ministry of Agriculture together with other ministries and bodies concerned must provide for systematic activity regarding exposure and conservation of degraded agricultural land and contaminated land and control over carrying out arrangements for their restoration.

These Regulations implement, in relation to projects for the use of uncultivated land and semi-natural areas in England for intensive agricultural purposes, Council Directive 85/337/EEC on the assessment of the effects of certain public and private projects on the environment and Council Directive 1992/43/EEC on the conservation of natural habitats and of wild fauna and flora insofar as it applies to such projects. The definition of "project" (reg. 2) identifies those activities which are subject to the requirements of the Regulations.
