The project "Responsible Land Policy" (ProPFR) in Cameroon is being implemented since January 2023 and contributes to strengthening land use rights in the Centre Region of Cameroon (primarily in the municipalities of Nanga-Eboko and Yoko), safeguarding the livelihoods of the rural population and simultaneously promoting the protection and restoration of forest-rich landscapes. This article provides an overview of the progress of the project and its impact.

Freetown, August 8, 2022 – Sierra Leone’s Parliament has passed two groundbreaking bills that transform communities’ ability to protect their land rights and the environment. The new legislation serves as a model for the rest of the world.

Working policy for registration of government lands issued

The Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, and Poverty Alleviation has issued the "Working Policy on Registration, Use, and Leasing of Government Land, 2022" to systematise the record-keeping of government lands.

As per the working policy published in the Nepal Gazette last week, the land revenue offices concerned shall register all unregistered government lands in the name of the Government of Nepal.

Such lands include all the lands used by the Government of Nepal, provincial governments or local levels and their entities, but which have yet to be registered.

Bangladesh’s digital land tax system chosen 'WSIS Champion' for 2022

Bangladesh’s Digital Land (Development) Tax system, under Ministry of Land, has been chosen as one of the five champion projects of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) 2022 contest.

The digital land tax system was chosen for category seven in the contest, named ‘ICT applications: benefits in all aspects of life - E-government’.

In the contest, four or five projects/initiatives in each of the 18 categories have been declared ‘Champions’.

LAND-at-scale Somalia: land governance to contribute to durable solutions for Internally Displaced People in three Somali cities

The Netherlands Enterprise and Development Agency (RVO) and the Somalia department of the Netherlands Embassy (EKN) in Kenya are pleased to announce their collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the UN Development Programme (UNDP), UN-Habitat and the Regional Coordination Office (RCO) in Somalia in the context of the Saameynta-programme. ‘Saameynta – scaling up solutions to displacement in Somalia’ will be implemented over a period of four years (2022-2024) and the LAND-at-scale contribution amounts to 2 million euro.

“Scaling up Land Governance for Food Security in Burkina Faso”: Introducing a new LAND-at-scale project

Nitidae, l’Observatoire National du Foncier Burkina Faso (ONF-BF), Oxfam Burkina Faso and the Netherlands Enterprise & Development Agency (RVO) are excited to announce their partnership for a LAND-at-scale project in Burkina Faso. Starting this year, the project will run for three years focusing on strengthening land governance for women and youth for increased food security, focusing on the Liptako Gourma region.
