Objectives of this photo story are to collate updated data and information to identify and describe key issues and processes revolving around land in the Mekong region and to provide a basis for constructive dialogue and collaborative decision-making with different actors to address these issues.

La familia Aquino Poma decide retornar al campo y aprovechar la propiedad familiar de los Aquino. Gracias a un acuerdo, no dividen la propiedad entre los hermanos y se hacen cargo de toda la producción, construyen 10 qotañas (atajados) para la reserva de agua y de esa forma viabilizan la producción agrícola y pecuaria de su predio.

A Serrinha, trata-se de uma área de terra da União Federal, grilada e denominada Fazenda Serrinha, na Gleba Garimpo. A área foi ocupada em 15 de maio de 2012, por 34 famílias sem-terra da região de Araguaína/TO e Barra do Ouro/TO. A Serrinha está situada na Gleba Serrinha, no município de Barra do Ouro, distante 12 km do centro urbano e aproximadamente há 130 km de Araguaína.

En Sudamérica, la transición demográfica y el crecimiento de la población joven han despertado el interés de desarrollar estudios en torno a la juventud. Estos estudios son realizados desde diversas perspectivas y propósitos, y en la mayoría de los casos centralizados en lo urbano, invisibilizando así, a la juventud rural.

80% of Cambodian people are farmers living in rural and remote areas. They are depending on agriculture, livestock and natural resource extraction to feed their families. Nearly last two decades, the royal government of Cambodia has tried its effort develop legal framework, infrastructure and urbanization to attract national and foreign investments to invest in Cambodia. while legal enforcement has been weak, some development plan has exploited and caused negative impacts on Cambodia people who are majority poor.

Su objetivo es proporcionar buenas prácticas para la conservación, el uso sostenible y la protección de los suelos en las zonas rurales del país. Es una herramienta para orientar a los actores relacionados con el uso del suelo en el diseño e implementación de planes y prácticas de manejo sostenible.

Rural-based economic activity can be just as effective for poverty reduction as that of urban sectors. Since the 1990s, rural transformation has lifted nearly as many people out of poverty as urban development. Many more will be able to climb out of poverty if greater priority is given to public investments in rural areas.

The wars in Liberia and Sierra Leone have been linked to the condition of urbanized youth. Recent research in southeastern Sierra Leone and northwestern Liberia suggests the rural context is of greater significance. The fighting was mainly in rural areas, involved mainly rural youth, and adapted itself to their local concerns. A model of war as the work of urban criminal gangs, reflecting local student politics in the 1970s and embraced internationally, is ripe for replacement by a model of war as agrarian revolt.

Modern agriculture development possibilities are highly dependent on many factors, including those which are related to the parameters of land spatial structure (including parcels fragmentation and parameters related to their shape). In particular, unfavourable shape of parcels in combination with their small sizes is the most common reason for non-profitability of agricultural production. It is one of the major causes of land abandonment. South Poland is the area of high diversification in terms of the landform, soil quality and spatial structure parameters.

Despite great successes in crop research for the developing world, many poor farmers in marginal areas have not benefited. There is increasing recognition that crop research can and should benefit these farmers. This paper reviews some of the key technical issues related to the challenge of formulating and carrying out crop research that is targeted, relevant and appropriate to these farmers, with a particular emphasis on crop improvement. It examines the reasons that underpin the lack of research impacts, and some of the key challenges and tools available to make this happen.
