Differences in spatial structure of rural areas of commune of Goraj with regard to size of farms owned by natural persons

Agriculture in Poland varies from region to region in terms of the level of farming culture and intensity of production. The majority of holdings are family farms, which use extensive farming practices and which are geared towards multidirectional production. They are characterized by low product marketability. Small farms with an area of 1-5 ha prevail. The largest fragmentation of individual farms is observed in the southern and south-eastern parts of the country. A more favourable agrarian structure is found in northern Poland.

The aim of this paper is to show how new location theories can explain the location of industries in rural areas. A survey of recent economic geography models is presented. We aim at highlighting the trade-off firms face when choosing to locate in an urban or in a low-densely populated area. For that purpose, it is worth takingtwo types of rural areas into account : rural areas under urban influence and independent rural areas. In the first case, the location of non agricultural activities is mainly explained by the working of the land market.

The land consolidation project of the parts of Vilkaviškis district municipality, Pilviškiai and Klausučiai elderates, Alksnėnai and Sūdava cadastral area is analysed in the article, the main indicators of the project, the meaning of land consolidation, the need to improve the order of the execution and implementation of these activities are described in the article. The survey was carried out to examine the opinion of the participants of the project regarding the advantages of the proceeding and results of the project as well as some of its drawbacks.

This article analyses the issue of the inadequacy between the results of preliminary measurements performed during the land reform and results of cadastral measurements. The aim of the research is to analyse the change of areas of land parcels of Sakiai district, the mistakes which were made during the measurements and their causes, as well as to make the comparison between preliminary and cadastral measurements.

This study elicits the risk preferences of rural households through a field experiment conducted in Shaanxi Province using the Holt-Laury mechanism that considers the effects of implementing the Sloping Land Conversion Program (SLCP) on the risk preferences of farmers. The program has significantly changed the structure of farmers' productive property, which may further influence their risk attitudes. This study reveals that household geographic and demographic characteristics have a significant effect on the risk preferences of participants in the experiment.

Agricultural activities and their complex effects on nature conservation, and the services that ecosystems deliver to humans are controversial. We present an overview of land abandonment, its driving forces and its consequences for landscape, biodiversity and humans. A descriptive metaanalysis of independently published studies highlighted the fact that the abandonment of agricultural land is a phenomenon mostly driven by socio-economic factors such as immigration into areas where new economic opportunities are offered to rural people.

Use of geospatial analysis methods in land management and cadastre

The possibilities of using the geospatial analysis methods for visualizing land monitoring data and modelling the spatial distribution of the main agrochemical soil indicators are discussed in the article. The research was conducted within the limits of land use of RUP “Uchkhoz BGSHA” (Republic of Belarus, Mogilev region, Goretsky district). The total area of the surveyed territory was 3187.0 hectares. The geospatial analysis of the spatial distribution of humus, mobile phosphorus, mobile potassium and pHKCl was carried out using the Geostatistical Analyst module of the ArcGIS software.
