This Act establishes National Planning for Coastal Zone Management. It consists of 13 articles laying down competencies and duties of the aforementioned national administration. It also lists sanctions to be paid by offenders in case of environmental areas pollution, according to article 14 of Act No. 6.938.

This Law establishes forms of property ownership, providing for the recognition and protection of property rights. Owners (physical persons, legal entities or the State) shall have the right of possession, use and transfer.

There shall be established a body with legal personality and financial and administrative independence connected with the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious affairs. The Body shall, inter alia, administer and develop real property received in endowment and act as endowment council for all matters in relation to administration of and investment in such properties.

This Act deals with the administration and disposal of State lands which are defined as all lands other than forest reserves vested in the State, including all lands which have been escheated to the State or may be acquired by the State. A Director of Surveys and Commissioner of Lands shall be appointed to implement this Act. The Act provides for, inter alia, the sale, lease, etc.

This Act provides for the conservation of land in St. Lucia, for the establishment of a Board to be known as the Land Conservation Board, for conferring on that Board functions as to land, and for purposes connected therewith or incidental thereto. Land is defined as including land covered by water and in fact this Act contains provisions on drainage works.

This Act prescribes matters concerning court proceedings required for changes to be made to land lease terms and prescribes special provisions concerning the duration and effect of land lease rights and of building lease contracts.

This Act establishes periods of limitation and other limitations for bringing actions of the various classes mentioned in the Act. Section 42 extends the applicability of the Act also to arbitration.
