This Act makes provision for general matters relating to written law in Kenya and contains interpretations of words and expressions used in written law in Kenya.This Act shall not apply for purposes of the construction or interpretation of the Constitution. The Constitution is not a written law for the purposes of this Act. The Act gives definitions of various terms used in other pieces of legislation such as “alien”, "exclusive economic zone", "export", "import", "Government land", "immovable property", "Kenya", "the Nairobi Area", "public body”, "ship", “vessel”, "the special areas" and "the territorial waters".
