The Struggles for Land Podcast gives a voice to those fighting for access to land and defending the commons.
Focusing on one major theme per episode, the podcast interviews and brings together farmers' organizations, social movements, environmental protection and the defense of the commons, as well as researchers and consumer associations. These exchanges between actors from the four corners of the globe enable us to better understand the local and international stakes, the successes and the difficulties of these mobilizations, which all have in common that they are working towards a society based on peasant and feminist agriculture in harmony with ecosystems.

On the opening day of the World Bank’s 2024 Land Conference, organizations of small-scale food producers, Indigenous Peoples, workers, grassroots communities, and civil society denounce the World Bank as a major actor of land grabbing and ecosystem destruction. They call for effective measures to realize the right to land and territories, including agrarian reform.

Le webinaire " Les parcours vers les droits fonciers coutumiers et les droits forestiers dans la région du Mékong" a eu lieu le 2 juillet 2024. Il s'agissait du deuxième webinaire de la série "État des terres dans la région du Mékong" qui vise à mettre en lumière l'environnement évolutif de la gouvernance foncière dans cette région dynamique, comprenant le Cambodge, la RDP Lao, le Myanmar et le Vietnam. Le webinaire a attiré 240 participants et a réuni des experts de la région du Mékong. Le webinaire a été organisé par la Fondation Land Portal et la gouvernance foncière de la région du Mékong et s'est appuyé sur les résultats des recherches et des activités menées par le projet de gouvernance foncière de la région du Mékong (MRLG) et ses partenaires sur la reconnaissance et la formalisation des droits fonciers coutumiers à travers la région du Mékong.

El seminario web "Caminos hacia los derechos consuetudinarios sobre la tierra y los bosques en el Mekong" tuvo lugar el 2 de julio de 2024. Se trataba del segundo seminario web de la serie "Estado de la tierra en la región del Mekong", cuyo objetivo es poner de relieve la evolución del entorno de la gobernanza de la tierra en esta dinámica región, que incluye Camboya, la República Democrática Popular Lao, Myanmar y Vietnam. El seminario atrajo a 240 participantes y contó con expertos de la región del Mekong. El seminario web fue organizado por Fundación Land Portal y el Mekong Region Land Governance y se basó en los resultados de la investigación y las actividades llevadas a cabo por el proyecto Mekong Region Land Governance (MRLG) y sus socios sobre el reconocimiento y la formalización de los derechos consuetudinarios de tenencia en toda la región del Mekong.

En examinant les paysages de plusieurs pays africains, nous mettrons en lumière la myriade d'expériences des chefs traditionnels, en soulignant les variations de leur autorité législative et le poids de leur parole. En s'appuyant sur des études de cas réels, le discours soulignera les zones de friction potentielles entre les chefs traditionnels, les entités gouvernementales et la population locale, en particulier lorsque les projecteurs se tournent vers la gestion des investissements fonciers dans les domaines ancestraux.

Em resposta, muitos estão se tornando novos líderes no ativismo climático, defendendo os direitos à terra como uma medida fundamental no combate à degradação ambiental e na preservação dos estilos de vida tradicionais.

Indigenous Peoples and local communities manage more than half of the world´s land. These biodiverse ancestral lands are vital to the people who steward them and the planet we all share. But governments only recognize indigenous and community legal ownership of 10 percent of the world´s lands. Secure tenure is essential for safeguarding the existing forests against external forces. This is specifically true for forests managed by Indigenous Peoples, where much of the world’s carbon is stored.

This paper analyzes whether national laws acknowledge indigenous peoples and other rural communities in 100 countries as owners of waters that arise within their lands. Results derive from information collected by LandMark to score the legal status of community land tenure. Findings are positive; half of all countries recognize communities as lawful possessors of water on their lands. Three quarters permit communities to manage the distribution and use of water on their lands.
