The FAO Legal Office provides in-house counsel in accordance with the Basic Texts of the Organization, gives legal advisory services to FAO members, assists in the formulation of treaties on food and agriculture, for which the Director-General acts as Depositary, publishes legal studies and maintains a database (FAOLEX) of national legislation and international agreements concerning food and agriculture (including fisheries, forestry and water).

This Law provides for the management and use of state property and for land use rights.The Law stipulates that state property may be assigned by the State to state agencies, armed force units, public non-business units, political or social organizations, etc.The Law further provides for rights and responsibilities of agencies, units and organizations assigned to manage and use state property and for state management responsibilities on state property.
